The owners are wonderful, and the property is in perfect condition. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. There’s a steakhouse nearby for dinner, about a 10-minute walk if you move quickly. Part of the route is unlit, so bring a torch, and the last bit goes up a slope. The easier route takes around 30 minutes.

The castle is stunning. Its exterior looks dated but is well kept, while inside it’s beautiful and has been lovingly renovated. Our room was charmingly decorated, with a very comfortable bed and chairs. It was described as a suite, though it felt more like a very classy room. The bathroom had both a bath and shower, but nowhere to hang the showerhead, and had the feel of an 18th-century castle. The location is a little remote and can be hard to find depending on which route planner you use, but it wasn’t a problem in practice. There’s a small parking lot when you arrive, though no obvious reception or check-in spot. Luckily the hostess came out to greet us. Otherwise, we might have rung the neighbor’s doorbell by mistake. The hospitality was amazing. She offered us a drink, got the garden and pool ready for us to relax, and offered dinner and breakfast for an extra fee. She even offered to help with our luggage.
