Hôtel L'Embarcadère

Parking can be tricky, so let them know early if you need a space. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, but the poor soundproofing meant we barely slept with a neighbor shouting and watching TV. The staff were warm and smiley, and we enjoyed the hotel bar and restaurant. Some local people came over for a chat and we had a good laugh. Despite the noise, we had a lovely stay and would come back when we’re nearby. See you soon, The Team.

The sea view was incredible, and the rooms were neat and clean. Reception were so warm and welcoming, even though our French wasn’t very good. Thanks for looking after us so well. Cheers from Australia!

For over €100 a night, I expected much better. The breakfast is self-service and a bit sparse for the price, though at least you can go back for more. There’s no kettle, just hot water from the coffee machine, and no trash can. Worst of all, the bath towels were dirty and stained, maybe with blood. The bathroom had a strong sewer smell that got into the room, so bring a constant air freshener. It’s close to the ferry terminal, but that’s about its only plus. Parking is tiny, paid, and only available if requested. The pedestrian street and nearby bars and restaurants make it noisy. Ask for a courtyard-facing room.

If you’re taking the boat, the location is ideal, but bring earplugs. I stayed one night. The room was fine and the bed comfortable, though the toilet tank needed three or four flushes. The soundproofing was awful, especially with neighbors laughing and talking loudly until 2:30 a.m.
