Bellavie - Maison d'hôtes

Hervé looked after us so well during our stay. Breakfast was fresh, generous, and plentiful. We loved the magnificent view across the Bresse valley, from a spot about halfway between Gérardmer and La Bresse.

The pool was especially nice at the end of the day, and the goats were adorable. We stayed in a room overlooking the valley, and even with the changeable weather, we had a lovely time. Our host gave us great suggestions for places to go, taking the weather into account. Thanks again for the warm welcome at Hervé's.

We were two couples with two children, and having enough bedrooms and bathrooms made things really practical. We stayed Friday to Monday at Bellevie 2, which is conveniently close to all the amenities. The chalet has a lot of potential. It could use some modernization inside, but for people just passing through, I’m not sure that’s really necessary. Mr. Hervé is very nice and gives you plenty of space. He suggested Le Grizzli in Gérardmer, and we stopped there on the way back. He was right, it was very good. All the best, Mr. Hervé. The little Belgians...

The owner was helpful at breakfast, which was adequate, but that was the one bright spot. We chose this bed and breakfast based on photos and a description that made it sound comfortable and well maintained. The setting had potential, but the actual condition was a real shame, and I can only advise against staying here. The room was filthy and clearly neglected. The floor was dusty, there were questionable marks on the walls, the sheets looked worn and had dust stains, and there was an unpleasant smell. The bathroom was barely clean, smelled bad, and fell well short of reasonable hygiene standards. For the high price, I expected at least basic comfort, cleanliness, and professionalism. None of that was there, and it gave the impression that the guests’ well-being wasn’t being considered. The management needs a serious review and the place needs proper maintenance.
