The staff were great, the room was clean, and the restaurant was very good. Still, the hotel lacks amenities: there was no soap by the sink, and we had paper cups instead of glasses. The layout was a bit higgledy-piggledy, with lots of stairs. We booked five nights but stayed four, probably a bit long for a village of this size.

This is a lovely hotel with plenty of character in a beautiful little village, and we got good value since we paid a little under the standard rate. We tried the Michelin-starred restaurant, which was delicious, though the prices were premium as expected. The spa was nice too, but also came at a premium price. Our only downside was a slight musty smell in the room. Otherwise, it was perfectly clean and to a high standard.

The vineyard visits were the highlight for us, with lots of different places to explore within walking distance of one another. We also loved the views of nearby villages and vineyards from our room and the restaurant. This family-run hotel sits right in the heart of Cadiere d’Azur village, with lovely shops, a boloungarie, and a cute shop selling fresh local produce and homemade food. A few local restaurants were closed for the winter holidays, though. The staff were incredibly attentive and happy to answer our many questions and guide us. The hotel itself has a lovely, quaint feel, with the son as chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant and his mother running the hotel. A great place to get away.

The location and surroundings deserve five stars, and the hotel itself has walls and furniture that are worth that rating, or at least four stars. My lower rating comes from the welcome: the staff didn’t seem trained to the latest standards, and there was a bit too much French “chichi,” which made arriving feel uncomfortable. If you can overlook that, it’s a very nice hotel, and it has a Michelin-starred restaurant too. I didn’t try it.

For my birthday, I brought my wife, daughter, and son, along with their boyfriend and girlfriend, to Rene'sens restaurant. I wanted them to discover what a one-star Michelin meal could be like, and it turned into a wonderful, tasty experience. The aromas and flavors were incredible, from the starters all the way through to dessert. Thank you.
