The owners made what could have been a very stressful night feel so kind and memorable. Our lodging fell through at 8 pm on Bastille Day, July 14th, after we’d been to Maestro Jordi Savall’s Festival at Abbaye De Fontfroide in Narbonne, France. My husband kept looking and found this lovely place about 20 miles away, though we wouldn’t get there until after 11:30. They waited up for us and carried our heavy suitcases when they saw how exhausted we were. The room was clean and comfortable, with great air conditioning. The next morning they took extra time to explain nearby towns and restaurants. The whole stay was charming. I hope to return. It reminded me why I love traveling and meeting all kinds of people.

We really enjoyed the homemade dinner and delicious breakfast during our three-night stay at Gîte de Mirava in La Caunette. Frédérique and Jacques were incredibly kind and attentive, and gave us great tips on places to visit around the region. The setting is magnificent, surrounded by nature. The jacuzzi was ready when we arrived, with a stunning view of the landscape. We highly recommend it.

We left after one night, despite losing a lot of money, because the room was damp and had a strong musty smell. The mattress was stained, there was dust and cobwebs everywhere, and the bed was uncomfortable. The decor was awful, and the balcony was disgusting, with only a tiny rusty table. There was no door lock or bedside table, and none of the amenities you’d expect even in the cheapest hotels. Almost 600 euros for three nights was unacceptable.

The spa’s splendid view and the warm, relaxing atmosphere made for a superb stay at Maison Mirava. The decor was tasteful, and we had the pleasure of sharing excellent cuisine prepared by Frederique and Jacques. I highly recommend it, and we’ll be back. Thank you.
