Le Chabi

The views were nice, and the location was good for Chapelle-d’Abondance and its restaurants. But our triple room was tiny, with just two plug sockets and an outdated bathroom. The hot tub was stained, and the sauna cost extra. We paid €680 for three nights. On our week-long trip, every other hotel included breakfast, which seemed standard for hotels in Europe. We had the small breakfast selection for all three days, but nobody said it cost extra or told us the price when we sat down or checked in. We were only told the breakfast time, so it seemed reasonable to think it was included. After we left, I missed a call from the hotel and called back, but they missed me. They called again, and in between, charged €72 to my credit card without asking or speaking with me. I didn’t want to use that card because I’d paid it off. The woman shouted at me and spoke as if I were a criminal over an honest mistake. It ruined our whole stay. I would have paid, of course, since it wasn’t intentional, but I wasn’t offered the chance to use my debit card. I expected at least some trust or understanding that I wasn’t a thief.
