We booked six days for our family, but the owner said the reservation was only for two people. The room was so damp, cold, and smelly that we left after the second night. Our children huddled together at night, and we had to put a towel between the sheets and bedding because the bed was wet. We asked several times about the heating. The owner kept saying it would get warmer in the evening, but it never did, and during the day the heat was turned almost off. Instead of offering a solution, he shrugged and said it wasn't his problem, then said the room wasn't cold for him and it was our problem. A next-door guest told us this was the coldest room in the building because the heat doesn't reach it. I believe hay stored beneath the bedroom may have contributed to the smell and damp, but regardless, the owner was responsible for providing a heated room. I have stayed in a straw house and slept on hay before, and it was never this damp, cold, or wet. The owner could have provided a small heater, but just shrugged and said the room was cheap, so we should expect this and pay more for better service. The manure smell was unbearable, made worse by the damp. There was no soap or even a garbage can in the room, and the shower pipe was black and the shower moldy. This was a traumatic experience I won't forget. Dinner was also far too small for a family of five. We got a bowl of cheese, one basket of bread, and seven thin slices of smoked meat for all five of us. When we asked if there was anything else to add to the cheese, they said no, just bread with the cheese. After we said it was too little, they brought four boiled mini potatoes, smaller than golf balls. The meal cost almost 80 euros, though the food was probably worth less than 3 euros. If dinner is offered, it should be a proper dinner. I don't know whether the treatment had anything to do with race or the fact that we didn't speak French, but I'd never experienced this level of rudeness in France.

This was so disappointing. When we ordered dinner, I told the owner my young son is allergic to dairy and could have salad instead. He mocked me, called me names, and made fun of us, including my child, calling him annoying. Different people have allergies, and the fact that the owner doesn't have a child doesn't give him the right to treat a customer or any person that way. This felt like a very dishonest business.

We loved it, and the cheese was delicious. This is the place to go if you like cheese, especially local mountain dishes like fondue and raclette. All the cheese comes from their farm of Abondance cows.

We only ate at the restaurant, and the fondue was the best we've ever had. The portions were generous, the service was warm and friendly, and the price was fantastic for what you get. We'll be back.

Eating pierrade in the private dining pod by an open fire was such a fun, special experience. The hosts were incredible.
