Villa Bellagio Blois

We paid EUR 62 for one night for two adults and two kids, which felt fair for a stop on the way to Chambord. The location is handy for the château, and the room was fine for a family of four. We were welcomed when we arrived, though the restaurant was closed at 8 pm on a Saturday in October. It's not a fancy hotel, and the sheets and towels seemed basic or worn. Breakfast is free for children under 12, but EUR 12 for adults is far too much for the quality. The pastries and scrambled eggs seemed industrially made, and the eggs were really terrible. The website picture of the hotel and pool looks more like artwork than reality.

For the 100€ we paid for one night, we weren't happy with the visit. The hotel is old, and the pool is small, despite the misleading pictures. The room had no air conditioning, even though the booking listed it under room facilities. There was only a standing fan, and it was 38 degrees outside. The toilet light didn't work, so we had to leave the door open to get light from the hall. Didn't the cleaning lady notice or report it? How did she clean the toilet? The lift to the rooms was out of service, so we had to carry our bags and a baby up the stairs. Parking was open to anyone, so don't leave things in the car. An Ibis Budget offers much better rooms and more modern facilities, secure parking, and air conditioning for less.

The hotel is a little shabby, but the staff were helpful. Our family room was comfortable and had decent air conditioning, though the AC in the first room didn't work, so we moved. The restaurant is reasonably priced for dinner but breakfast is expensive. We walked with the kids to Buffalo Grill nearby, which was better value for them.

Over three days I stayed in four rooms, so I got a pretty good sample of the problems. The carpets and curtains were dirty, and the old WC looked dirty because it was worn and rusty. The air conditioning was either broken or weak. Reception staff listened and changed our room, but the hotel itself feels old and needs a serious refresh. The lift was dirty, and the pool was too small for so many children. The best things were the parking and the reception area with its fireplace. Maybe the hotel photos were taken 15 years ago. I took some awful pictures to show the front desk, but uploaded only the nice ones here since those last over time and maybe the place will get refreshed soon. I hope this helps them improve. The location is good, close to shops and places to get good French bread and croissants.
