Hôtel De l'Atelier

The breakfast was nice and had a homey feel. I loved the bathtub, and the water pressure and temperature were amazing. The rooms were warm in winter and had good sound insulation. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city centre, or five minutes by bus. All the receptionists spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. A really lovely hotel.

We loved the ten days we spent in Villeneuve. It’s an authentic town, lived in and run by local people, with lovely restaurants, the monastery, beautiful townhouses and views from the fortress. The restaurants are independently run by wonderful chefs using local produce, and we loved trying the Provençal food. We’re vegetarians, but everywhere welcomed us and made sure we had options. Hotel L'Atelier was a peaceful, comfortable oasis, with a feeling of staying with loved ones from the moment we walked in. Stefan and his team took real pride in making us comfortable. The stay felt authentic and luxurious without any pretence, and we liked it enough to extend our trip. Our first-floor room, number 21, was a large suite with double windows looking over the beautiful square. Opening the shutters each morning felt like stepping into a postcard. We also enjoyed breakfast al fresco under the vines in the garden. It was exquisite, with local produce, several local cheeses, and homemade cakes and preserves from Stefan's wife. Leftover pastries and cakes were put out in the lounge to snack on during the day, along with tea and coffee, so nothing went to waste. If you’re coming to Avignon, skip the city and come straight here. Hotel l'Atelier is the prime place to stay. I feel like we could have stayed forever, but summer had to end.

This was our second stay at the Hotel De L'Atelier, a great base for exploring the surrounding area. In June of this year, my wife and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary early, as a surprise for her, with our whole family in the south of France. There were ten of us, aged from 76 to 8. The staff accommodated all of us well, from the rooms to breakfast. It’s a great place to stay in a lovely, walkable town.

Villeneuve is a wonderful place to stay, beautiful and quiet, with easy access to Avignon Centre. We loved Hotel De L'Atelier. The staff are kind, helpful and know the area so well. There’s a warm personal touch throughout, from the homemade jams at breakfast to the extensive local guidebook of recommendations, made and updated by Stéphane. Highly recommend :)
