The estate is in a beautiful, green, remote location, but we didn’t feel welcome there, and neither did the kids. Someone was shouting at them all the time. There seem to be lots of written and unwritten rules, and technically everything is forbidden. There aren’t any tables around the estate, so you can’t sit anywhere or even have a glass of wine outside your room, which feels like a real loss in such a lovely garden. At checkout, while I was checking the departure time, an older man told me we had to leave before the stated time because they needed to take inventory of the room 😀. It was as if we might take a plate or fork from the apartment. The funny part is they didn’t do an inventory when we checked in. In short, the staff’s manner didn’t make the stay easy, and we didn’t feel welcome. Keep that in mind when booking.

Château L’Insolas became a quiet refuge for us during a very difficult stretch. Over recent months, my family and I travelled back and forth between London and Avignon while my mother was gravely ill in hospital. We stayed there three times. My wife came and went as work allowed, and my mother-in-law stayed throughout. Each return brought real relief. I’ve spent thirty years in hospitality, much of it at the very top end, so I don’t praise a place like this lightly. It isn’t a full-service hotel by definition, and doesn’t claim to be, but the care and attentiveness we received honestly compare with the finest places I’ve stayed anywhere. Kenzo, who manages the property, has remarkable grace and instinctive hospitality. His mother, the housekeeper, does her work with quiet pride and unfailing generosity. Along with the wider team, they anticipated needs we hadn’t voiced and handled our changing schedules without a hint of inconvenience. Their kindness can’t be trained, and sometimes lifted a very heavy day. Jean-Marc Robert deserves credit too for his inspired vision in creating the property. Château L’Insolas sits on the edge of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, one of Provence’s most charming and historically rich villages. The setting is faultless, and the château shows thoughtful, intelligent design and genuine love for the craft. Thank you to Kenzo, his mother, the team and Monsieur Robert. You made an impossibly hard chapter bearable, and at times unexpectedly beautiful. We’ll return in happier circumstances and keep recommending Château L’Insolas without hesitation to anyone heading to this corner of France.

The avenue lined with trees and the grounds have a magical feel ✨. The renovation is absolutely beautiful, bringing out the character of the place, and the spa is a real bonus. The owner gave us a remarkable welcome, and the apartment was immaculate and very well maintained. Everything has been arranged with great taste, and the setting and service are rare in quality. Our stay at the château felt like stepping out of time. It’s a calm, beautiful place, and I hope I can return very soon. Thanks again for an unforgettable experience.

The natural surroundings are gorgeous, and the city is within walking distance. It’s all perfect, like a fairy tale. Come here for a peaceful getaway or a romantic break.

We were after peace and quiet, and found it in a lush, green setting. The amenities are functional and up to standard. A short but intense stay in a wonderful building. We highly recommend it and look forward to coming back.
