Villa Saint Jean Appart Hotel

We stayed just one night and were very disappointed. The location is okay, but it’s noisy at night and the property is right by the road. For 200 euro, the cleaning was poor, with hair around and loose mixer taps. The living room was tiny, more like a corridor, and our child had to sleep on a small uncomfortable sofa that hadn’t been made up before we arrived. The worst part was the outdoor kitchen: dirty floor and refrigerator, open jam jars for the breakfast you have to prepare yourself, and old dirty rags to clean up with. The pool area looked fine, but a robot ran all day, so you couldn’t really use the pool properly. Twenty days later we got a bill for 120 euro, apparently for cleaning, even though we had cleaned before checkout and nobody mentioned or charged us at checkout. We tried to contact the host, but he refused to speak with us. Be careful about this place and the person’s illegal behavior.

My cousins and I spent eight days in the Figuerolles suite, renovated with taste in a modern style. The villa and grounds are very well kept, and the couple running it were kind and attentive. The shared pool was maintained every evening, and their children were adorable and well behaved. Breakfast was generous, with plenty of good-quality choices. I’ll post photos on a travel website because the place really deserves a makeover. Leslie isn’t responsible for the negative reviews from 2019 to 2021. I also visited the other rooms and loved the detached Provençal farmhouse, with its sea and Île Verte theme. Its big private outdoor BBQ area with artificial grass would suit groups. Villa St. Jean is easy to use as a base for Bandol, Six-Fours-les-Plages and other nearby towns, and I highly recommend it.

The only awkward part was the location, which is a little out of the way, and the parking felt narrow for a family car. Aside from that, we had a perfect stay and would happily come back. We were there as a family, and everything was clean. The American breakfast was generous, especially the waffles 😊. The hosts were warm and very responsive before we arrived and while we were there. The amenities were all top-notch, and it was lovely to unwind while being cared for by such a friendly couple in a timeless villa.

I booked through Booking.com at 5 pm using the pet filter, then at 7 pm she told me dogs weren't allowed. I can understand how that mix-up happened, but she charged me 254 euros because, she said, too much time had passed between the reservation and the cancellation. That's 125 euros an hour for doing absolutely nothing. Nice one. I'm a restaurant owner with 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, and to me that's theft. One star, because I can't give less. One star for a thief!
