Hôtel Bellachat

I came because of the name, and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend a visit.

The free shuttle gets you to the foot of the slopes in just a few minutes, which is a nice extra. Rooms and service were perfectly comfortable and decent, and for the height of the season the value for money is hard to beat. I'd recommend it!

The spot is fantastic for ski touring or skating, with the Confins ski area only 200 meters away. It's quiet too, since there's no traffic. The hotel has a slightly old-fashioned style that seems intentional, and both the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Beds were made between nights, and the service was excellent, really couldn't have asked for more. Breakfast is very reasonably priced for its quality. My only small gripe was the heating. There wasn't much way to make the room warmer, though maybe that's deliberate.

The manager was friendly, but that was about the only bright spot. It looks as if the hotel hasn't been renovated in over 30 years. The room was very uncomfortable, the bedding awful, and there was a leak in the shower. Heating was poor in both the room and breakfast room, and breakfast was pre-packaged. Outside, there was no lighting in the parking lot or along the way to the entrance after 7:30 PM, so getting in was difficult. The stairs in front of the hotel weren't cleared of snow until late in the morning.
