ibis budget Cherbourg La Glacerie

The staff made check-in and check-out easy, and the location gave us convenient access to the city center and nearby attractions. I had a great stay at ibis Cherbourg - La Glacerie. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good bed and smart use of space. It had what I needed for a relaxing visit, and the hotel offers good value. I’d happily stay here again and recommend ibis La Glacerie for an affordable, hassle-free stay in Cherbourg.

We ended up taking the ferry straight back to the UK instead of staying here. The hotel was grubby and overpriced, the staff were rude, and it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere, nowhere near anything. Terrible experience.

The staff were very friendly, and after I raised the room issues they moved me to a slightly better equipped one. Still, it was the usual Ibis experience, without bed bugs this time. It’s a long way from the city. The furniture felt poorly made, the doors seemed like wooden boards with fittings, and the beds squeaked as if they might fall apart just from sleeping in them. Breakfast was a barebones continental spread with stale baguette and no fresh fruit or vegetables. The food was very basic, too. I’ve stayed in hostels in Germany and Denmark that manage a decent breakfast with some vitamins. This might do if you just need a budget bed.

The family room is especially good value. I also had dinner at the IBIS next door, where the food was good and excellent value. The stay was comfortable, clean, and in an ideal location. Hard to fault.
