Club Belambra La Grande Motte

My kids still love coming here, but the place has gone downhill. It used to be a fairly nice spot at a good price; now it feels old and run down, while the prices are high. Services keep being cut back, the food is worse, and the facilities aren’t being renewed. The staff do their best to look after everyone, but year after year there’s no improvement. It feels like an aging holiday resort in decline.

This was the best holiday I’ve ever had. The apartment was clean and had air conditioning and a private terrace, though the terraces could use renewal and still work fine. The staff were friendly, and the resort has restaurants and bars, pools, and fishing areas. It’s also close to the center and works well for children. Best of the best.

We were there with our three-year-old grandchild, and the swimming pool was great. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast wasn’t bad. The rest was disappointing: the rooms felt very dated, there was no air conditioning, just a noisy fan, and towels and linens weren’t replaced. The evening meals were poor, with fish rarely on the menu depending on how many residents were there. Entertainment and activities were almost nonexistent. For a holiday day club, it was a very sad place to stay.

The young reception staff were very helpful, but I had a rude exchange with Jasmine, the reception manager, when I tried to speak to her politely about our early flight. The complex was closed at 6 am, and we’d been told to call a number. Getting to Montpellier takes about an hour and 45 minutes by bus and tram, though there’s a bus stop nearby. The beach is nowhere close, and a taxi cost €24. I’d asked for a room facing the sun but got a dark room overlooking a lake. The stair lights worked only now and then, and the balcony was pitch black. There was no air conditioning. The food was average, the bed hadn’t been changed, the bins weren’t emptied, and the room hadn’t been cleaned for five days. After I complained, I was told someone would change the bed, but no one came. When I asked again, they told me to bring the sheets and towels up myself. I pointed out that the room hadn’t been cleaned in five days and was told there was nothing they could do. This place is a disgrace. Don’t go!
