My husband and I were dealing with car trouble and stopped in Cherbourg to check on the car. We went to a restaurant for dinner in the meantime and charged our phones there, so we didn't manage to check in on time. The manager told us rudely that he was no longer available to let us in and that being left without a bed for the night wasn't his problem. After I insisted, he did agree to wait until 9 PM. The property itself was nice and reasonably clean, and breakfast was plentiful, but I won't stay again because of how the manager treated us.

Getting there, you might think you've taken a wrong turn, but once you arrive all those doubts disappear. It's a lovely little village that feels like a fairytale, tucked away in real peace and quiet. Both two-legged and four-legged guests get a warm welcome. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

We can't wait to come back. What stays with us most is the sumptuous breakfast in a warm, inviting annex that has been beautifully restored. The hotel itself has comfortable rooms, a quiet romantic atmosphere, and a cheerful garden full of flowers. Its buildings have the region's own character, and the welcome is warm. Anse Saint-Martin, one of the coast's loveliest spots, is just a few minutes on foot. The village has an irresistible charm, and it's easy to see why Jacques Prévert chose it. A wonderful fit for discerning French and international travelers.

The welcome was very friendly, and we got good dinner recommendations in a bucolic setting. It was a very pleasant stay. Breakfast felt a little expensive for the quality of the food. No television, which is perfect if you want to watch a rainy day go by.

Six days at La Fossardière went by too quickly. We came to explore the Cotentin peninsula and left delighted. It's a peaceful spot near the sea and a lovely coastline, with excellent hikes on the GR. Ecalgrain beach and the Biville dunes are superb. Mr. Fossard's restaurant recommendations were excellent, and all his other suggestions were helpful too. Breakfasts, rooms, and staff were all perfect.
