The house is beautiful and the hosts were welcoming, and overall we had a pleasant stay. We booked through the website but were moved to a different room. That was fine, though nobody explained the change at the time. For €103, the room felt short on expected basics: there was no water, cups, coffee, or tea selection, and we only got a kettle after asking. Breakfast was fairly basic, with no offer of hot food, and the listing didn't say what was included. Parking wasn't available at the accommodation, so we left the car in the church car park. Pleasant enough, but it felt a little complacent.

The location is lovely, peaceful, and close to the beach in Chatelaillon. Alyette and Christophe have made their cozy home feel so welcoming that you won't want to leave. They're amazing hosts, and I'm already looking forward to staying again!

We had such a wonderful four-night stay, waking up to a freshly made breakfast served outside in the garden each morning. A day sailing with Christophe was a very cool bonus. Alyette and Christophe made us feel completely at home, and we had so many fun chats along with all their helpful tips for exploring the area. Like someone said before, you arrive as guests and leave as friends. We'd love to come back!

La Madeleine is a five-star B&B, and we'd be delighted to return. Its refinement and warmth reflect Alyette and Christophe perfectly. Alyette is a smiling, thoughtful, attentive hostess, and Christophe is a caring, warm host and captain. They shared lots of useful information and advice about the region. Our family suite worked beautifully, with two very large double bedrooms and a smaller single room that could fit an adult or children. The breakfasts were sumptuous and varied every morning. The manor house is in the charming village of La Jarrie, a great base for exploring La Rochelle, Île de Ré, Rochefort, and the Marais Poitevin by bike. There are plenty of cycle paths, especially enjoyable along the coast.

Our adjoining rooms were spacious and comfortable, and we slept very well in the cozy, warm family home. The decor is beautiful, and we felt right at home. The regional pastries, crusty croissants, fresh bread, yogurt, and orange juice made for a real treat at breakfast. The owners were incredibly welcoming, and we got along so well that we exchanged phone numbers. They love sailing and offer boat trips for guests, a lovely way to explore nearby islands in a small group and get close to Fort Boyard. We booked because we were going to dinner at L’Hysope, just a stone's throw away, so walking there was easy. We had a wonderful time, and everything felt perfect. Thanks so much for the hospitality. We'd gladly return for both the restaurant and the B&B. See you soon!
