Auberge Verdon

We were there for four nights, and I wouldn't recommend this place to young people. It's an auberge, not a hotel, and the manager came across as awful, dull, and unhappy to have tourists. My friends from Poland and the USA were shocked. After 9 pm, we weren't allowed to stay outside because his mother was sleeping and no noise was permitted. We were playing cards outside when he told us to stop. There was no garbage bin anywhere, and no recycling for bottles. A beer cap fell in the garden, and the manager brought it back the next day. If you forget a piece of paper for the garbage, he brings it to your room and puts it on your bed. Maybe an outdoor bin would solve that problem. The garden had only one plastic table and four plastic chairs, and the terrace had no mountain view. The rooms weren't equipped, and the place didn't seem as clean as the Taj Mahal. We suggest the eco house nearby instead. Much better, and no surprises during your stay.

The room was comfortable and very clean, and we had an amazing breakfast. Our host was great.

We stayed one night at this little hotel, tucked just outside the village in a lovely spot. The room was modest, and both the cleaning and breakfast were decent, nothing more. The gentleman who greeted us, who I think was the owner, was kind and helpful. We had little time, so he suggested places to see in the Verdon Gorge. There's no food service or bar. Guests can use the big fridge, microwave, coffee machine and kettle in the living room, and there are different teas and coffee capsules as well. I've attached a few hotel photos 😍. I think it's well worth staying here, and recommend it.

Getting to La Palud is easy by car, though the 2 km walk takes longer. The setting was idyllic, the room comfortable, and our host very accommodating.
