Chalet De La Vanoise

The people here are what make this chalet so special. Lee and Kevin were warm, generous hosts who went out of their way to make the trip great, especially for those of us who were beginner skiers. Jonah and Jack looked after us brilliantly, with great humour and patience. Lee, Kevin, Jack, Jonah, and Felix, thank you so much. We’ve only just left and already miss you all! X From the welcome to getting everyone fitted for skis by a team of experts, everything made the holiday feel special and meant we were ready for our first day. The setting is perfect and the skiing is great. The chalet is comfortable and well laid out, with lovely touches like a sauna and games room. The hot tub is perfectly placed for looking out over Mont Blanc, and was a highlight for everyone. The food was absolutely exceptional. Every meal was a treat, with so much thought in the menu, preparation, and presentation. We enjoyed every mouthful.

We spent a magical Christmas week with our family at Chalet Vanoise. Kevin and Lee were attentive to every detail and exceptional hosts. The chalet is comfortable, with spacious bedrooms and exceptional valley views. There’s a sauna and an outdoor jacuzzi where you can soak in bubbles and take in some of the best views you could ask for. Georgie and Jonah cooked such a treat for us. The food was so good that we hardly saw a reason to go to a restaurant. Access to the huge ski domain was easy.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable week at Chalet Vanoise (Snow Place Like Home), and I’d definitely bring our group back. The catered price was very competitive, the chalet and service were outstanding, and the ski area is great. It sits right in the middle of Paradiski, with easy access to both Les Arcs and La Plagne. Montchavin’s slopes are a five-minute walk away, so it’s practically ski-in, ski-out. I arrange a ski trip for friends every January, and this was our first time trying a catered chalet. Kevin and Lee, a British husband and wife team, own the place and live in the attached property. They’re both very keen skiers. I booked directly through the website and found Lee accommodating and communicative. Kevin sorted Paradiski area passes for us, including a free half-day, so when we arrived around Sunday lunchtime we could get straight onto the slopes. For ski hire, there’s a company that delivers to the chalet, or Ski Republic is a five-minute walk away. The catering covers breakfast, afternoon tea with cake, and six dinners. Fabio and his wife were the catering staff, and Fabio speaks fluent English, Portuguese, and Italian. The food was superb, and Fabio was attentive and delightful. Wine comes with dinner, and beer is stocked at cost, about 1 euro a bottle. There’s a sauna and a hot tub for four. The ensuite rooms are comfortable and spacious. Rooms can be booked individually, or larger groups can rent the whole chalet.

A brilliant week in a lovely chalet with fantastic hosts. Lee and Kev spoiled us with their hospitality, and the boys in the kitchen were accomplished, professional, and cooked delicious food every day. They’re absolute dudes too. Thanks, Lee and Kev. I’d absolutely come back.
