Villa 2 Pas Sages

The hosts were very friendly and had good suggestions for exploring the area. We stayed as a group of four for three nights in October. Our rooms were beautifully decorated, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The bedroom also had a lovely view of the garden and river.

Our English-speaking hosts were incredibly gracious, bringing fresh croissants each morning and offering dinner, which we tried a few times and found well worth it. We stayed seven days, three of us including one child, in a gorgeous room overlooking the lovely garden and river. Having direct, safe access for swimming was a real bonus, and the whole stay was very relaxing. There’s also a recently opened bar at the end of the garden, which was another plus and reasonably priced. You’ll need a car to reach the wonderful places nearby, which are about an hour away on average, though there are closer spots for more river access and canoeing. If you want a relaxing holiday with an idyllic base, this place fits the bill.

Despite the beautiful chateau, the service was very poor. The owners made us feel like unwelcome relatives who’d turned up unexpectedly and asked to stay for a few days. When we asked for a cooked breakfast, their visible disdain was striking, and the “cooked breakfast” turned out to be just an egg. It felt clear throughout our stay that the owners had no passion for hosting. France has plenty of beautiful chateaus, so why stay somewhere you don’t feel welcome?

The location was quiet, opposite a cornfield and river, yet only five minutes from all amenities, and the price was reasonable. The hotel was very clean, with comfortable beds, pretty modern decor, and tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was lovely and included fruit. Falko and Sandrine gave our family a warm, friendly welcome for a wedding at Chateau de Valouze. They both speak fluent English and were polite, caring, and helpful throughout, making our three-day stay feel pleasant and homely. We’d definitely stay again and have recommended it to friends attending a wedding soon. The best hosts in the area. 👍🏼
