Residence Croma

It was a bizarre stay, and massively overpriced for the service we actually got. I emailed and messaged through bookings.com before arriving to ask about dining or a restaurant, but nobody replied. Reception was supposed to be open until 5, yet it was shut when we got there at 4.30. I called the number on the door and got no answer, then sent a text that also went unanswered. My husband noticed some postboxes with a bit of paper bearing our name, and found an apartment key there. No one ever responded to my call or text during our stay, and reception was never open. Lots of things around the complex and in the apartments are broken. I also met a woman desperately looking for a staff member because her apartment had no bedding and her children needed to go to bed.

It was fine.

The welcome was genuinely friendly and pleasant, and there were some thoughtful little touches in the room. But out of season, the place wasn’t great. The attic room was small and much too dusty, the bedding was poor, the bathroom had mold, the doors stuck, and the TV was tiny. Not great.

The place has a lot going for it, with spacious, reasonably well-equipped apartments and a lovely setting, but it’s all in a run-down state. The accommodations need a deep clean and renovation, as do the outdoor facilities. The pool was poorly maintained, with broken parasols and some sun loungers, and the ping-pong table and pétanque court also need attention. Our stay began badly. The fridge in our apartment was full of food that wasn’t ours, two of the three air conditioners didn’t work, and the sheets and towels were dirty. It looked like no one had cleaned after the previous guests. We complained strongly at reception. A kind woman listened, without seeming surprised, and moved us to another apartment. That one was much better maintained, though still a bit dated. It’s a lovely place, which makes its condition all the more regrettable. This residence falls well short of what you’d expect from 3-STAR accommodation.
