I stopped here for a meal and a few beers while staying overnight across the street. The steak was superb, and Rene was really kind and friendly. I loved the strange, tacky feel of the unusual 1970's Scottish theme, especially the Guinness world record photo of the world's biggest crustacean fountain made by Rene. La Roche sur Yon itself didn't have much going for it.

The atmosphere is gloomy, and the place feels like a haunted hotel. The building is run-down and dated, with dreadful cleanliness throughout the room and restaurant. The bed was awful, and I barely slept. I couldn't find the modern comfort mentioned in the description, but I did find what seemed like carpet from another era. I'm allergic to dust mites, and that old carpeting was everywhere, even in the bathroom. This feels like a five-star dump, not a three-star hotel. I'd avoid it.
