Accostage Hotel

The thin walls and windows meant we could hear the street and other rooms constantly. My pillow also smelled strange, almost like vinegar, so I had to use my own travel pillow. You expect a hotel to get the basics right. Breakfast cost €12 per person, but it was mostly sweet items like cake, jam, and chocolate spread, with no eggs, cheese, or meat. The coffee machine was awful, and the older lady at the counter didn't check it. We had to find her twice just to get two coffees. The website says they help with luggage because there's no elevator, but nobody helped us. This was not a good experience.

Our three-person room was laid out well, with comfortable beds and a very clean, modern bathroom and shower. The rooms were spotless throughout. We were welcomed warmly and got great advice on places to visit and restaurants. The hotel is very conveniently located, close to the beach, the vieux Port, and a pleasant park. We'd definitely recommend it and will come back.

The walk into La Rochelle was pleasant and short, and the staff were friendly and happy to help. Our room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was excellent. The only difficulty was the steep stairs up to our room, though the staff offered to carry our bags.

The manager was very kind when we arrived. We’d booked a third-floor room for two adults and a baby, but the baby bed we’d requested wouldn’t fit. I’d called a few days before to ask about a crib, and the young receptionist, speaking broken English, said it was fine. The manager moved us to a larger first-floor room at the same price. The baby bed sagged a little, but we added bedding from the spare bed, and our daughter slept as if on clouds. The bathroom was new, with high ceilings and a big TV. We skipped breakfast. The hotel was very clean, and good value at €80 for one night during the Euro football club championship. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the old town and beach.
