The bed was comfortable, and the room was lovely and clean. I’d booked partly because the photos showed a place to sit outside, which seemed like a nice extra. But the pictures are clearly old. There was no decking, only a plastic chair and a table, and the area hadn’t been maintained. It still had some charm, though I was disappointed.

It felt really cosy, and the owner and his wife were incredible. Thanks for such wonderful service.

The location near town was the only good thing, especially for that price. The terrace shown in the photos wasn’t furnished, and the place seemed completely unmaintained: dust and hair, holes in the walls, toilet stains, a dirty bowl and overflowing ashtrays. There was such a strong perfume smell in the rooms that it made me feel sick, even with the windows open.

The location in La Rochelle is excellent. The sink drain was leaking, though, and garden access was limited to one guest. It was a shame the other guests couldn’t use it.
