Lagrange Apart'HOTEL L'Escale Marine

The location is the main plus, just a short walk from la Rochelle centre ville. The rooms were clean and adequately sized, but there was no working air conditioning and no instructions for the heating, so sleeping was really unpleasant. The shower head wasn’t secured to the wall, which made showering unpleasant too. Staff seemed disinterested throughout and were apathetic and mostly unhelpful to my partner at both check-in and check-out. I hope management takes this feedback on board and makes the place more welcoming for visitors.

The location is good, but I honestly wasn’t a fan. We stayed two nights before moving to a hotel. The staff seemed uninterested and weren’t very friendly. The layout also felt odd: huge bathrooms paired with tiny rooms, which made little sense. It felt claustrophobic even with the door open.

The room we got was very basic, though clean, and the shower was great. I’d call it three-star. The Expedia pictures showed their larger apartments rather than our room, which left me expecting more. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

The bathrooms are spacious, and it’s good that pets are allowed, but the Lagrange Apart Hotel felt modest and short on the amenities you’d expect at a more upscale place. There’s no air-conditioning, the beds were uncomfortable, and without headboards your head can end up against the wall. The rooms aren’t especially roomy either. I also found the sheets dusty. Guests have to take out their own rubbish and wash the dishes, which made it feel a bit like staying at home. The location didn’t make much of an impression.
