Camping Saint Louis

We were here for the film festival and had a near perfect stay. The only snag was the temperamental buses into the centre. The staff are lovely, especially adam and theo, who are both kind and great at their jobs. 10/10 from us x

We had mixed feelings. The restaurant was excellent, and the staff were fantastic, especially the lady with glasses, who was outstanding. Our toddler loved the shallow part of the swimming pools, which suited him perfectly. The evening entertainment was just okay, though a 20-minute mini disco felt disappointing when it was advertised until 9pm. The toddler climbing area also needed a parent to lift a small child onto the equipment. Our bungalow came with two fans but no air conditioning, and at the end of July that wasn’t enough. At 10pm we were still trying, unsuccessfully, to get cool air inside. This should be made clear when booking, as we might have chosen differently.

We had a brilliant holiday and no real complaints, but families with older kids may want a bigger, busier campsite. My boys are 15 and 12, and there wasn’t enough here to keep them occupied. The slides and outdoor pool are small, there’s a small football and basketball area, a couple of table tennis tables, a little park and a couple of animals to look at. The indoor/outdoor pool is deep enough for jumping in, but there’s no arcade. It’s a lovely site and doesn’t try to be super modern. We usually choose bigger parks with more slides and activities, so that’s on us, though I’d look elsewhere if you want a more active site. We stayed 11 nights. It’s a very French site, with friendly staff who spoke English, and quite a few Brits among mostly European visitors. The bar and restaurant staff were especially helpful, and the food was good without being too expensive. The location worked brilliantly for seeing Cannes, Nice and Monaco. We hired a car, which I was glad we did, since the beach is at least a 15-minute drive, or farther if you choose another one. Parking by the beaches was free, and they all had kiosks selling food and drinks. It’s in a town rather than a usual tourist area. We walked about 15 minutes and found a lovely meal. Turning left out of the campsite, there’s a padel and tennis club, then a nice Italian restaurant where the service was very good and they spoke English perfectly. An Intermarché with a fuel station is a two-minute walk away. We also bought tickets online to Monaco v Strasbourg: four cost 88 euros, and parking there was 6 euros for the day.

The indoor and outdoor pools were good, and the restaurant on site was amazing. The accommodation was nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. There’s a supermarket five minutes’ walk around the corner. Great place for a family.
