Mas de Provence en Riviera

We really enjoyed our time at this lovely, peaceful guesthouse. It was very clean, and we had an excellent breakfast each morning. The host was so kind and welcoming, with great tips for exploring the region and recommendations for tasty local places to eat. We’d happily recommend staying here!

Claude was so accommodating with our schedule, and the morning breakfast was fantastic. This was our first time in France, and this was the first place we stayed. The service and room surpassed our expectations in every way. It’s a great place to escape the bustle and relax in peace. The room was outstanding, and the grounds are even more impressive than the pictures suggest. If you’re in the Nice area, I highly recommend staying here. The drive up the canyon is well worth it.

We stayed just one night instead of the planned three because we were unhappy with several things in the room. It was freezing all night, and we couldn’t sleep because we were so cold. The air conditioning didn’t work, even though the windows were closed and in the room. It also looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned for a while, with spiderwebs and dirt visible. The bathtub was dirty, there was no way to take a proper shower, and the small room, tiny windows, and lack of daylight made us feel like we were in a prison. It didn’t look like the picture. The toilet was open, with no privacy. Claude seemed very friendly when we arrived, but the owners couldn’t handle negative feedback. When we told Claude after the first night that we wanted to leave early, he was very upset. I understand that this is his home. Still, when we left, he promised us a refund and told us to contact his wife. We tried to reach her right away, very politely, but she didn’t respond. She only replied after I followed up and mentioned the problems with the room. She was very unfriendly, insulted us, and said she had told other guests about our behavior. That’s really unprofessional. A business owner should be able to handle negative feedback. It also seemed they expected us to cancel the booking on booking.com, but nobody told us that. We exchanged several emails after that, and she started insulting us even more, which I found very upsetting. We’ve stayed in so many hotels over the past few years and never had anything like this happen. Think twice before booking this property. I wouldn’t be surprised if this rating disappears, since the owners had already threatened to complain about it. That’s how they get and keep a good overall score.

Our short stay at Mas de Provence felt like heaven. The hosts were so kind, and they had a solution for every question or wish. Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh, homemade food and something different each day, served on beautiful dishes made bij Florence. Be sure to book dinner too: Claude cooks excellent food, and the setting is fantastic. Thank you so much for making our stay so lovely!
