Chateau Lezat

Dinner was the highlight for us. The food came from local producers, was cooked in traditional French style, and was sublime. We started with aperitifs in the salon, including the surprisingly good house Chestnut Kir, made with sparkling wine and liquor. The dining room was impressive but still cosy, and the flavours, cooking, and presentation were all spot on. I don't have the words to do the meal justice. We stayed in the Family Room with our two kids. They had an adjoining room with twin beds, and my wife and I had a larger room with an ensuite. Everything was well appointed and meticulously clean. The Château's shared spaces were comfortable, and those fireplaces look like they'd make them cosy in colder weather. There's plenty of parking and room for the kids to run around. It's near La Souterraine and the A20, but far enough away to feel peaceful and secluded. Serge and Sarah gave us a warm welcome even though we arrived two hours early, and shared a concise but thorough history of the Château and its former owners. Booking online was easy, and Serge quickly confirmed it in English. We came for just one night as a stop on our drive south from Paris. It worked perfectly for that, though next time I'd love to stay longer at Château de Lezat.

The room was fantastic, the bed super comfortable, and dinner exceptional with delicious wine. Breakfast was the best, with homemade marmalade and chestnuts with a stuffed apple. Serge and Sara were the kindest hosts, and we had an aperitif from the house in the lovely garden. I left my glasses in the parking area, and they sent them to my home address. Thanks for that. We'd recommend staying here to everyone.

We loved how peaceful it was, and the hosts were charming. It's a great place to stop. Thanks so much, Sara & Serge. Can't wait to come back in summer and use the pool.

Beautiful rooms and a wonderful breakfast, for only a little more than a regular hotel. It's a great place to stay near the A20, especially if you're driving from Paris to Toulouse.
