Hotel du Lac

The apartment was roomy for two adults and two kids, and the beds were very comfortable. We found the welcome friendly and straightforward, and the breakfast was tasty and inexpensive. Great value for money. We'll definitely come back next time we're in the area.

We only wanted two coffees on a rainy morning, with that lovely lake view to enjoy. The little place was empty apart from the owner. We asked and stood waiting a few minutes, but he ignored us and didn't offer a table. Then, to my surprise, he plugged in the vacuum instead of the coffee maker. We got the message when he asked me to move so he could vacuum right under our feet, and still hadn't started making coffee. It would've been simpler and more polite to just say he didn't want to serve us. Message received: don't disturb. Thanks, and goodbye.

For €16.00, the plat du jour came with sausage as a starter, pork and/or salmon for the main, then a cheese board and dessert. Water was already on the table. The food was fine and the service friendly, though the flies were a downside. I wouldn't mind coming back.

The new terrace is a real highlight, with sun and shade and a superb view of Lake Tour d'Auvergne and the Cantal mountains. There’s also plenty to do inside: sports on TV, pool, foosball and darts. The music is cool, the restrooms are clean, and even the furry friends have their own bar. Everyone is super friendly, whether they're owners, regulars or just passing through. It has a relaxed, family feel, like being at home. At lunchtime the smells are so tempting you want to try it all, and the woman chef really shows in the food. Every time I've been by, it's been open, which is getting rare around here. Parking is right across the street. A pint is €4.50 and a Picon-pint is €5, I swear!
