Hotel Ibis Budget Metz Sud Augny

Breakfast was very good, and the staff were lovely too, merci Madame! Vincent was the super friendly, helpful receptionist when we arrived around 11. We were travelling to Italy with a baby on the way, and the stay was just right. The room was clean and nice, with the best shower. Definitely recommend.

For a budget place, it was okay and liveable, about what you'd expect for the price. Check-in was easy, and although the room had no mould, unlike other reviews I'd seen, the aircon worked. The room was very basic, just a bed, sink, shower, and TV, with no kettle or coffee machine. There isn't a lift, so bags have to go up the stairs. The mattress was thin and hard, and there was only one small pillow. The shower had white duct tape at the bottom instead of a rubber seal, and the silicone really needs redoing. It looked pretty gross, and the plugs weren't very clean either. Some of the room lights didn't work. We didn't risk using the shower.

The staff were attentive, pleasant, and friendly, and we had an excellent stay. A few amenities were missing, but I'd definitely come back.

The person checking us in was very nice, and the room seemed okay for the price. But one of the single beds couldn't be used. Its linen smelled awful, like sweat and feet. We were all exhausted by the time we noticed, so we didn't go downstairs to complain. We squeezed together and left that bed unused. That made us wonder whether the other beds were clean either. I brought it up at checkout, and the woman apologised and said she'd talk to someone, but the damage was already done. We'd had good experiences with Ibis hotels before, but now I'm reconsidering booking Ibis budget in the future.
