La Maison de la Tour

A great starting point for hikes in the area, with a picturesque setting and really friendly, relaxed service. The hotel feels modern and seems to have been renovated recently. It’s wheelchair accessible, which is rare in this region. Stephanie, the hostess, and Stephane, the chef, made it an excellent stay.

The drive up is tough, with steep, winding, exposed bends, and I was glad I didn’t have to take that road again when we left. Even so, the owner was very helpful and went out of their way to assist with our needs. The rooms are modern and in very good condition, and the owner is friendly. The restaurant food is excellent, but both meals and accommodation are pricey, and breakfast costs a lot for what you get. In the evening, kids in the village can be noisy, and the church bell woke us at 8 a.m.

We had a perfect night and would definitely return with more friends. Our room faced the square, and it was clean with a comfortable mattress. The hotel sits on a cozy square surrounded by old buildings, a lovely way to experience life in a French village. The host was super friendly and helpful. The chef makes creative, delicious dishes. We’re Dutch and like potatoes with mayonnaise; they didn’t have any, but the chef made some at home and brought it out within five minutes. Highly recommended!

We came for the hiking trails and were also drawn by the restaurant’s great reviews. Both were even better than we expected. We spent three nights at this really cute hotel in La Tour, a beautiful little mountain village north of Nice.
