Hotel Napoléon

It’s too expensive for what you get. The place looks like something out of a horror movie, and it’s far from everything. The bed was uncomfortable, the facilities were old, and the rooms weren’t very clean. This does not feel like a 3-star hotel.

La Turbie turned out to be a great find, with good places to eat, beautiful views, and plenty of hiking and climbing nearby. The town is convenient for getting to many things. The hotel itself is pretty good, and the patio is a plus, though it could use some upkeep. If you need a place to stay, it fits the bill.

The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the windows did a good job keeping street noise out. Getting a parking spot was easier than I expected, with a large public lot just a two-minute walk away. It’s only 20 minutes from Monaco on a pleasant drive, and the best value for money in the area.

The room was clean, adequate, and everything worked, about what you’d expect from a 3-star hotel. There was an unpleasant smell in the corridor, possibly sewage, for our whole stay, though repairs were underway, so hopefully it was being dealt with. Traffic from our front-facing room was intrusive until 10 at night and started again in the morning. Parking is a real headache if you arrive by car: there’s no hotel parking, and you’ll probably end up near the school. There are usually more cars than spaces around there. It gets a little better after 7 in the evening, but not by much. We ate elsewhere, and when we walked past in the evenings, the Hotel Steak House had very few customers.
