The surf camp side of the stay felt badly organised and not very safe. Paul isn’t authorised to teach surfing, and the sessions meant being dropped at remote spots while he drove off. Booking through third-party sites also came with unexpected charges for surf gear, and things listed online, including breakfast, organic veggies, a beer fridge, and evening meals, weren’t there. The place itself is in rough shape. The house was dirty, the garden had broken equipment and scrap lying around, and the skate bowl was being used to dump stuff. Boards, wetsuits, and bikes were available, but most were damaged or unusable. It’s very remote too, with a 40-minute walk to the nearest beach, little public transport, and no way to get around once the buses stop in the evening. The owner was often grumpy and openly complained about some guests, so there wasn’t much of a welcoming community feel. I’d stay somewhere else for a better surf experience.

We had a great time out in the ocean at a really cool surf spot Paul took us to. He was so welcoming, and I loved hearing his stories. He also shared some of his homemade vegetables with us, they were delicious. Thanks for such a lovely stay and experience. All the best, Jeanne.

The house has had lots of changes, and it’s a great place to stay. You can learn a lot about surfing from Paul, meet friendly people, or just relax with a game of pool or some time in the garden.

I came on my own and soon found plenty of nice people to hang out with and do fun things. If you want a proper surf stay, this house is a lovely find, away from the crowded, commercial surf camps around the region that feel overrated. The house is cozy and has such a positive, lively feel that I felt comfortable and welcome straight away. There’s a big garden with a skate bowl, BBQ, darts, and a pool table. Paul, the owner, is really nice and laid-back. He drove us to the surf spot every day and gave me useful tips to improve.
