I’ve been a member of your group for years, so this was especially disappointing. The Privilege Room was in terrible shape, with a badly burned, damaged sofa and a window that seemed to be rigged so it looked like it could close. For a four-star hotel you’re proud of, that’s ridiculous. Is this really how you treat customers who’ve stayed with your group for years? We were told there were no Privilege Rooms left, then your staff downgraded us to a classic room and sorted out breakfast for us. The next day, only one of us went to eat. We accepted the awkward situation because we felt we had to, not because we wanted to keep staying in a better room. I hope you understand that. Anyway, we’ll never stay at this hotel again. The fitness room was the part I liked most. It was clean, nice, and renovated. Breakfast tasted good, though there were no vegetables. I also think the hotel could use more cleaning, and the rooms need renovation. As for feeling welcome, I wouldn't answer yes or no. It was somewhere in between.

There’s not much of interest near the hotel since it’s outside town, but it works well for a one-night stop. The gated car park is useful, and inside the building feels spacious, modern and pleasant, despite the dowdy exterior. There are also spots to work by the bar and restaurant. If you have time and are interested, Compiègne has some very interesting sights, including the museum and monument to the 1918 and 1940 armistices, as well as the former Nazi internment and deportation camp. One thing to watch on the menu: the vegetable tart contains sardines, so the vegetarian labels need an overhaul.

It’s easy to reach the city from the hotel, though the location itself isn’t great, out in a sort of commercial area beyond town. It’s one of the few four-star hotels in Compiègne, and the rates per night are reasonable. Parking is free and secure. This is a standard Mercure Hotel, so no surprises. The rooms are clean and the Privilege ones are quite spacious. Staff are mostly friendly, and in any case professional and efficient.
