Au Soleil du Bonheur

Au Soleil du Bonheur is a real hidden gem, with an unbelievable location and lovely rooms. Maarten made the whole experience as good as it could be, and the service was fantastic. Thank you so much!

For cycling, the house is right at the start of some of France’s most stunning cols, and Mont Ventoux is within perfect cycling distance. The pool is a lovely finishing touch, and the beds are very comfortable. I’ve spent many holidays in Provence and stayed at plenty of chambre d’hôtes, but Maarten and Patricia’s place is the best by far. It sits among vineyards in a picturesque little French village, close to all those typical postcard towns. The breakfast and dinner are top class too. Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t regret it.

The first time we arrived, it felt like coming home. Patricia and Maarten are genuinely wonderful hosts, and our room was clean and fresh. Breakfast kept us going for the rest of the day. I forgot to ask where they get those fresh croissants every morning! Maarten also cooked us a Table d’Hote with French and Italian influences. The wine list features great local wines.

The Dentelles de Montmirail are right nearby, with lovely views and great hiking, and the B&B is in a special spot north of the Luberon and south of the Ventoux mountains. We visited during a rather dreary fall, when the weather wasn’t ideal for outdoor adventures, but Patricia and Maarten made sure we felt at home and comfortable. They were generous with their time and gave us priceless advice about the region, which we were researching as a possible future home. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts each morning and a lovely Table d'Hote. Thanks so much, Patricia and Maarten. We hope to return soon.
