The location is great and the indoor pool was okay, but this place felt far too expensive for what it offers. The rooms look dated, with filthy grey carpet and an old bathroom. It gives a posh first impression with the slippers and bathrobes, but that impression doesn’t last. We’d asked for a quiet room, then found a door beside our bed that connected to another bedroom. My partner had one right behind her bedside table. The air conditioning only blew hot air and couldn’t be switched to cold. There was also a small, noisy electric bathroom heater on a timer. It felt like stepping back 20 years.

The room was very clean, and the staff were friendly. I also found the pillows and cushions really comfortable. After injuring myself cycling, I needed something soft to prop up my leg, and they worked well for that. We had two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers in the room, too. Breakfast had a good range of options. Dinner, though, was mediocre, so I’d eat elsewhere next time. The free Wi-Fi kept cutting out. We were at the end of the corridor, so perhaps that was the reason.

The staff made this one-night stop on our way south especially enjoyable. They were friendly and engaging, with the kind of genuine hospitality that seems to be missing in a lot of places where guests are treated with apprehension. We had a relaxing time in the pool, then enjoyed a very good dinner in a busy restaurant that was clearly popular. Breakfast was excellent as well. We really liked our stay and would recommend the hotel.

The restaurant was really good, and the staff were friendly and laid back. The rooms were clean and nice, though nothing exceptional.
