Adonis Hotel Bayonne

I've stayed here three times now, and it's a pleasant stop with free private parking and a handy location for travelers. The rooms are roomy and the beds comfortable. Staff are attentive, though this time I wasn't given an invoice after paying. Breakfast has improved, with plenty of choice and regular refills. The bathtubs are a problem, though. They're very high and slippery, and need replacing with showers. Older guests or anyone with limited mobility can't use them safely.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was nice, but I found the price high compared with other places I've booked. The TV only had French channels, which doesn't seem enough for a hotel serving international guests. The air conditioning was noisy and difficult to operate. Towels were too small too, so after a shower you need to bring your own towel or make do with a face towel.

There wasn't much around the hotel, but it was quiet. Our room looked over the highway toward the river. The twin beds were comfortable, with two pillows each, and the shower had good hot water. It's a good basic place, though breakfast was the main letdown. There was little food, most of it prepackaged, and they ran out of bread, croissants, and eggs.

The river view was lovely at sunset if you looked past the road in between. Traffic moved slowly during the weekday morning rush hour, but it wasn't noisy. The staff were friendly and really helpful, and the cafe next door was convenient. It's easy to get into Bayonne, with lots of free parking. Clean and practical, it suited our business stay of a few nights and was good value. I'd recommend it.
