The food was good, and the ice cream was delicious, but we left feeling let down by the service. There were five of us, and when we walked in on a Tuesday night without a reservation just to ask if there was room, we didn't get a warm response. The place seemed busy. Our waiter took ages to take our order and checked on us only once during a meal that lasted at least an hour.

The hotel even helped me after I'd left, forwarding something I forgot in my room and refusing payment despite my offer. I can't express how grateful I am. That thoughtfulness was there throughout my stay, starting with a kind welcome at reception and help with my bags. I ate well and slept comfortably in a recently refurbished room.

I haven't stayed at the hotel, but I've been to the restaurant and loved it. The food is great, the service spot on, and it's a lovely place whether you're stopping for a drink or sitting down for a meal.

We really enjoyed the food, and the staff were attentive. It's family run, which adds to the welcoming feel. On Thursday music nights they close the whole road so everyone can enjoy the evening. Always a pleasure, and very impressive. Pictures added.

The hotel is old, and standard rooms don't have air-conditioning.
