Hotel Des Negociants

They were happy to serve us a drink during the lunch period even though we weren't eating there, which was just what we needed while waiting for our return train. Other places could do the same. The location is okay, though it is on a busy road.

We had a fantastic lunch here while waiting between arriving and departing on Le Mastrou train. The dining room was busy with locals as well as train passengers, and the hotel was very welcoming. The staff were attentive, and the plat du jour et dessert was excellent in both quality and quantity. Highly recommended!

The restaurant is lovely and modern, with good food and huge portions. The rooms are fine, with modern facilities, but the furniture is very old and shabby, not even antique-looking. Housekeeping could be much better: there was floor dust around and under the furniture, and big cobwebs on the ceilings. There was only one mirror, in the bathroom.

We waited about 1.5 hours for our main courses, and the service was rude. We’re a family with two young children, aged 5 and 8. We hadn’t booked, but they offered us a table for lunch. We ordered meals for the kids and adults and got the starters fairly quickly. When we asked about the delay, the woman serving us rudely said we hadn’t booked and had to wait. After the mains arrived, we asked for ketchup for the children. Maybe she could tell we were unhappy, but she told us they’d run out, which wasn’t true. We weren’t happy and wouldn’t recommend this place in Lamastre. The food was very average.
