This was a really strange stay from start to finish. We arrived at 20:25 to check in, expecting we might still get dinner since we thought the restaurant stayed open until 22:00. The manager’s welcome felt odd, and the room looked heavily photoshopped in the Booking listing. There was no heating in the bathroom, either. We were told dinner was already over and that we should have reserved it. We later noticed a message from the hotel about the reservation, but it had arrived right as we got there. Instead, we were offered a charcuterie plate for 38€, which somehow became 43€. At that price we expected something fancy, but the quality really disappointed us. The manager’s comments made us uncomfortable for much of the time. He asked things like “why are you not smiling” and “you’re sitting here near nice fireplace and food - why don’t your faces show that you are grateful for that?” For two exhausted women travelling together, the whole thing felt really odd and upsetting. P.S. The hotel’s reply is a top tier example of gaslighting. There’s no way that board could cost 43€, and the price change was ridiculous. And there’s no way to mistake the host’s behavior for an effort to make us feel welcome and comfortable. He was rude, a bit aggressive, and it was the most disturbing experience I’ve ever had at a hotel reception.

We’ve stayed here three times, and it’s become our “Go to” when we’re coming back from the South and heading for the ferry. Emmanuel is a perfect host, really engaging and a unique character. The food is amazing, so much so that we opt for the half board surprise. There’s a bridge leading onto a pontoon for music. It’s a must come to place, and each stay just gets better and better.

The gardens are lovely, and the location is great and very quiet. The room could do with refurbishment and smelled damp and musty. The welcome was rather eccentric, which won’t suit everyone. I was surprised to see so many excellent reviews.

The peaceful lake is a lovely spot to pause, and across it there’s a medieval church reached by a serene walk. Don’t forget to smell the roses. I loved the gardens and the unique manorial estate, as well as the equestrian countryside, and truly enjoyed my stay in this charming place. It felt like a chance to experience life in the Bretagne countryside as it must have been centuries ago, while still having all the modern comforts. This is a spectacular place to visit, with an experience like no other. I can’t wait to return. Next time I’ll stay longer so I can see more of the sights of Bretagne. Highly recommend it for an unforgettable visit.

The food was tasty and presented very well. The menu offered three choices for each course, though we would have liked a change or two on our second night. It’s a very nice hotel, with pleasant rooms in a quiet location.
