The room was lovely and the price was incredibly affordable. It did get a bit hot in the high temperatures, but my partner and I were both pleasantly surprised. I was worried after reading some reviews, though the friendly staff really made our stay. They appreciate it when you try speaking a little French, and I think that adds to the holiday feeling. At 60 euro a night, I don't think you can ask for more.

We stayed three nights for a wedding at nearby Chateau Durantie, about a 20 minute walk away. Michel and his team were lovely and helpful, and the food was very good, especially the spectacular duck. The rooms were clean and good value. One thing to bear in mind is that there are no fans or air conditioning, so bring a fan. Ask for a room away from the main road too, as the noise can make it hard to sleep with the window open.

We just had a lovely lunch at the Auberge. The food is local, expertly cooked, and reasonably priced. Michel and his team are so welcoming and friendly. A real little gem in the heart of Lanouaille. We’ll be back and I’d recommend it to everyone!

Lovely little spot and the food is good, but one of the owners could use an exorcism. Being nice goes a long way, and this woman seems to have missed that lesson. The staff at the little pizza place in town are approachable and nice, and the supermarket staff are amazing too.

The young servers were pleasant and the food was good, but checkout turned into an awful experience. The managers overcharged us and charged for drinks they never brought, saying it was 'after serving hours'. When we asked not to pay for things we hadn't received, they shouted at us and threatened to call the local sheriff. With the language barrier, it was impossible to reason with them, so we paid to avoid trouble. That was a sharp contrast with the rest of our amazing week in Lanouaille.
