We only stayed one night, but it was lovely and excellent value. The suite was on the top floor, so there were lots of stairs and no lift, which didn't bother us. The owner was warm and welcoming, and booking direct was easy. It's a very old hotel with historic character. Some parts are tired, but it was clean, warm and welcoming. The location is central, and we visited the cathedral and had a nice meal out. There's a public car park nearby, next to the police station, which felt safe and was convenient. Laon was the first Capital of France before it moved to Paris. The huge cathedral is well worth seeing, and there's plenty more to explore if you have time. We were travelling with a friend from the UK to the Alps.

A great spot for taking in the town's history, with medieval charm and a very welcoming host. Some of the stairs could be difficult for people with limited mobility, but most visitors should find it a lovely place.

The room felt spacious and cosy, with old beams throughout, and the hotel has plenty of quirky original timber features. We parked around the corner, about a minute away, and were given a blue badge so parking was free. There's a great French restaurant across the square. We really enjoyed our stay, and as non-French speakers we had no trouble chatting with the owner. Fantastic host, and we'd definitely come back.

The location is excellent and the staff were pleasant, but the hotel itself was run down. Paint was peeling off the walls, there were no amenities, and the shared areas had a lot of clutter. Breakfast was very minimal.

A fire at the hotel meant I couldn't check in when I arrived. I was desperate, and after I spoke with the policemen about what had happened, the owner came to help me find somewhere else to stay. I never got to sleep at the hotel, but that kindness alone earned all my respect and gratitude. That's what I call service. Merci beaucoup! I hope the hotel is repaired soon and gets lots of customers.
