Les Hôtes d Eloise

We spent two nights at this lovely family property in the centre of Laon. The owners and their little daughter were delightful, friendly and professional, and gave us lots of information about local restaurants and places to visit. Great value, with lovely rooms and a generous breakfast.

The hotel has high ceilings and original wooden floors, and has recently been renovated. Service was excellent, and we had a quiet night despite being close to the cathedral, as there was very little traffic. If you’re hoping to have Sunday lunch at a local restaurant, booking is essential, though there are several within easy walking distance at other times. We took the tour of the caves under the town. The guide spoke French very quickly, so English speakers would be wise to rent an audiophone. We had a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

We came across Les Hoted D'Eloise while looking for an overnight stop on the way back from Switzerland, and what a lucky find. Laon is beautiful, full of medieval history and interesting places, with great restaurants too. The host was great, and our room and bathroom were fantastic in a magnificent chateaux. We’ll certainly come back for a longer stay.

Laon is well worth visiting, and this place is a peaceful haven despite being right in the centre, just steps from the cathedral. The owners were super helpful. It was beautifully decorated and clean, with a very comfortable bed and delicious breakfast.
