There’s a lot of potential here, with a unique experience across 10-12 rooms. The old castle dates to the 1500 century and has three buildings, two towers, the castle, and a shop outside the walls and moat, which I assume used to be a stable. The moat is overgrown with weeds rather than filled with water. Out back, there’s a tent, an outdoor fireplace, and a nice path across the estate. But the tent and the furniture beneath it are filthy, and the fireplace was full of leaves and branches. They were finishing the roof during our stay, but to my eyes, there’s still a lot left to do.

We arrived quite late without a booking, but they still prepared an excellent dinner, and the wine was very good. Breakfast was excellent too, and the owner was amazing. The room was very comfortable, big, well heated, and very clean. The bathroom was spotless, with both a shower and a bath. Massimo and Vanja

The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, and there was no hot water in the shower. When I raised the water issue, the owner acted surprised. The property was neglected and dirty, with insects and bed bugs. I was bitten all over, and the owners/reception had nothing to say, acting rude and unprofessional as though nothing had happened. Awful hygiene. Avoid this place at all costs.

Sleeping in a medieval castle is quite an experience, and this place is absolutely magical. The family who own the hotel are charming, helpful, and super friendly. We had great parking, an awesome restaurant, and wonderful recommendations from the hosts for attractions and places to eat. Everything about it was stupendous.

The hosts are charming and the surroundings are lovely, a nice setting for a glass of wine in the evening. Things can be a bit chaotic, and don’t expect a huge breakfast, but I’d definitely return. A big plus for Germans: the hostess is learning German, so be ready for entertaining French-German-English conversations!
