Hôtel de la mer

I wouldn’t recommend this place. We had a confirmed, paid booking through booking.com, but when we arrived after cycling 120 km in 35-degree heat, Madam at reception said they were fully booked and there had been a booking.com mistake. She spoke good English until she realised we were cyclists, then suddenly her English got much worse. We were completely unhappy with the way we were treated and had to find another hotel, which I’d give five stars. We then had the hassle of getting a refund for a hotel that was supposedly full. If there really was a problem with the booking platform, we should have been told during the day, not when we arrived after a hot day of cycling.

The owner sets high standards, so I imagine the restaurant will be very good when it opens. Breakfast is extensive, and the comfort is excellent for the price range. Everyone was friendly, and the owner and staff couldn’t have been more helpful or thoughtful. When I went out to pick up a takeaway pizza, the owner was waiting with cutlery, napkins, and a smile. That’s what I call service. I’d definitely come back.

The rooms are clean enough, but they aren’t very big and there’s no air conditioning. Wi-Fi is poor unless you’re in the restaurant. The staff were about average for politeness and friendliness.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We booked a room for 45 euro on booking, but the hotel said they didn’t have any rooms at that price. They FORGOT to tell booking that all rooms at that price were already taken!!!
