Le Château du Boulay Morin

The heated private pool and champagne made for a lovely way to unwind between evenings out. My wife and I came in September for her 30th birthday, just after getting married, and took Ubers to some fantastic restaurants in the nearby villages. We both loved the stay and would wholeheartedly recommend it. Maybe we’ll return for our 10th anniversary.

We only found this place because, after nine hours driving on our 21-day road trip, neither of us fancied another night in the tentbox on the way back to Dieppe. It turned out to be a lovely little find near Rouen. The father and daughter who run the hotel explain everything clearly, and the château itself is tastefully done, with big grounds and woods around it. We were in the two-bedroom wooden chalet, a short walk from the main Chateau. It was cosy, had everything we needed, and the forest and valley views were amazing. There’s a hot tub on the terrace too. We woke up to meet feeding right in front of us. There’s plenty to do for adults and kids, including a covered heated pool, tennis and games. You can make your own food in the open kitchen and dining area, or order in, and breakfast is available in the morning. We were only passing through, sadly, but would definitely come back. Highly recommend.

The setting felt so calm and almost ethereal, especially by the covered outdoor pool at sunset. They gave us clean towels and robes to take out there. Downstairs there’s a TV, pool table and other entertainment, and breakfast from the lovely hosts came with the best baguette I had on my travels in France. We only stayed one night, but I wished I could have stayed longer. The château is beautiful, and there are two of the cutest, nicest huskies. Our luxurious room felt like princess treatment, with lots of room to relax, a huge jacuzzi tub and a walk-in closet. It’s a romantic getaway that still has the modern comforts you want.

After a long drive, I came away feeling refreshed. My friend and I spent one unforgettable day at this beautiful chateau, and our hosts made us feel so welcome and cared for, almost like being at home. It was peaceful and relaxing, with so much charm and thoughtful touches. We watched movies in the living room, had breakfast in the morning, then went for a walk in the forest and played tennis. Just what I needed after a busy lifestyle. Highly recommend if you’re after a quiet, heartfelt escape.
