We were very disappointed by our stay. We had confirmed an 11:00 check-in, but the access code didn't work when we arrived. After we reached the property manager, we got inside and found that the apartment hadn't been cleaned at all. We were told it would be ready by 15:00. When we came back at 16:00, it still wasn't prepared. We ended up cleaning it ourselves and had to arrange our own sheets and sleeping bags, as well as basic things like toilet paper. The dirty, used linens we put in a corner stayed there for the rest of our stay. Given what happened, it's very disappointing that the property manager has refused any refund or compensation. I wouldn't recommend this place unless management makes major improvements to its standards and communication.

The Marina view is lovely, and getting around Guadeloupe by car was easy from here. There are loads of restaurants nearby too. Our room was more like a small apartment, with basic cooking gear, and the clean pool was a decent size. The internet was the one real drawback: over our 13 days, it went out twice, each time for 48 hours.

The walk uphill is a lot, and the place feels very old and shabby. The buildings' exterior walls look like they belonged to a nice place a long time ago. The grounds are cut back, but the paths have potholes and broken drain covers that are dangerous in the dark. Our water has been off for two days, so we can't flush the toilet or shower. It seems to happen regularly, though other properties still had water. Staff say nothing can be done.

A good spot for a longer stay or as a starting point for exploring Guadeloupe. Hotel Village Soleil is in a quiet, gated complex, about a five-minute walk from Bas Fort Marina. There are restaurants and shops there, along with an ATM, pharmacy, and grocery store.

The reception staff were pleasant and efficient, and the location in marina bas-du-fort is handy, not too far from the p-a-p city centre. Some apartments are awkward to reach with baggage. Wi-Fi is free, though the signal is very weak.
