La Creole Beach Hôtel & Spa

Locals can use the pool and "private beach," which makes the parking lot impossible to park in and takes away from the resort's luxury feel. I don't see the point of paying premium rates if anyone can come in and disrupt guests. Le Creole is worth a visit for a meal or cocktail, but I'd stay somewhere else. At these prices, I could have added another week at a different place. Sincerely, it wasn't worth it. The hotel itself is adequate, just okay, with nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either. Service was as expected, though the younger employees under 20 sometimes had an attitude. Rooms are basic, with dated electronics, and could use some care. The Wi-Fi was extremely unreliable and never worked in our room, which would be a problem if you need to make business calls.

We were comfortable and enjoyed our wedding anniversary night, and we'd recommend staying here. The staff were friendly and accommodating. A little French is helpful and respectful, although many staff know some English. Google Translate helped us with words we didn't know. We loved the beach, and there are jet skis to rent, though we didn't try them. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. The restaurants and bar are expensive, but the ocean views and sounds, along with the great service, made them worthwhile. A few things from other reviews came to mind. There are bugs outside, as you'd expect in the tropics, but we saw just one mosquito in our room. We were on the fourth floor, which might have helped. It took a while to figure out the room numbers, and the elevators only go to the third floor. The buildings need upkeep, since salt air affects the concrete rebar, and at these rates that should be fixed, though some work is underway. I noticed a slight musty smell in the room, but my husband didn't. With the ocean view and rain every day, moisture is hard to keep out. It was tolerable, not overwhelming. We could hear luggage wheels in the room, so a holed rubber mat in the corridor might help. We turned up the fan and used white noise.

Our stay at La Creole Resort and Spa was stressful and disappointing. We were locked out for hours when our room key stopped working, and no one helped for a long time. We were told the bar was open, but then refused service when we went there, for no clear reason. Cash disappeared from our room, including tips we'd left for housekeeping, and it seems possible that someone who wasn't housekeeping came in. The "all-inclusive" package came with so many restrictions and hidden rules that it hardly felt inclusive. The place felt disorganized and dishonest. If you're after good service, peace of mind, and a real resort experience, I'd look elsewhere.

The beach and pool are pleasant, and the best parts for me were breakfast overlooking the sea and the rum tasting with Serge, who was happy to translate into English. The room was large, with a big bed and a bay view, but the whole place feels tired and needs more than a fresh coat of paint. The ice machine was broken, though the bar had ice. The bar prices are very high: €15 for a cocktail and €12 for a Heineken. No Affligem. The location outside is a bit naff, just buildings and restaurants. It's okay here, and that's the best I can say.
