La Confiance Hotel

The front desk staff were helpful, and spoke enough English to make up for my limited French. The hotel is within the walls of Mont St. Michel, so the location is good. But I couldn't recommend staying here for the value. Hotels nearby, off the island, seem to offer better value, and there must be better options for anyone set on staying in the heart of the place. Our first-floor window looked out at shops and walls across the street. The room smelled faintly musty, the carpet needed cleaning, and a couple of floorboards squeaked beneath it. There was mold, especially on the bathroom tiles and grout. Maybe that was why our noses felt stuffy the whole time.

The room was clean and really comfortable, and the staff were always smiling and so helpful. We also had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Fantastic location, and a very affordable stay on Le Mont. I'd recommend it.

The buffet breakfast was really good, with loads of options. Our rooms were older and on the small side, but clean. There was no conditioner or body lotion, so bring your own if you use those. We arrived early and the room wasn't ready, but the staff were friendly and kept our bags for free. When we came back to check in, they moved us to a sister property, so just know that can happen. Some people complained about the rooms being small or old, but keep expectations realistic: this magical place was built ages ago, so it won't feel like a modern hotel. We loved staying at Le Mount Saint Michel.

The room felt like a typical, generic hotel room, and I had no other issues with it. There was quite a bit of mold in the bathroom and around the windows. The stay costs a little much for what you get, but that's the price of sleeping on the Mont, and I think it's completely worth it.
