The apartment was spacious, clean, and functional, and everything inside worked, though the furnishings were pretty spartan. We booked a one-bedroom place through Leavetown.com, which cost much less than Airbnb. The pool was beautifully clean, with chairs and loungers around it, and the reception team were courteous and helpful. There was plenty of free parking by Reception, but none beside the apartment. You can use a credit card to pay for the on-site washing machines. The website photos make the site look freshly painted and smart, as it apparently was a few years ago. These days the exterior woodwork on the apartments could do with a revamp. We stayed in late June and had house martins nesting under the eaves. They were lovely to watch, but we didn’t sit outside because they kept swooping in and out to feed their chicks. Le Teich is small, with a few shops, but we couldn’t find an open bar. The only one we saw wasn’t open, perhaps closed down or on holiday, so there was nowhere to walk to for a drink. The area is great for cycling and for visiting the beaches near Arcachon. The park beside the nature reserve often had evening events, and it was nice to walk over and listen.

Le Teich felt like a sleepy little tourist town during my late September visit, though that may not reflect what it’s like in high season. The surrounding area is lovely, and the Arcachon Bay, Arcachon beaches, and Dune du Pilat are all worth seeing. I’d definitely come back. We stayed in an eight-person apartment. It had two bedrooms with double beds, one downstairs and one upstairs, another double bed on the upstairs landing, and a sofa bed in the living room. Each floor had a small bathroom and a tiny separate toilet. The bright, airy living room and kitchenette opened onto a small deck facing the pool. The kitchen had a good amount of crockery, cutlery, glasses for 8-12 people, and cookware, along with the usual appliances, though there was no oven. The downstairs bedroom was cramped, with barely room for the bed and a bedside table, and no closet. Both upstairs bedrooms had closets. The apartment’s interior was dated and quite worn in places, with loose skirting boards, mold and water stains near the floor in the bathrooms and kitchen, and old food or toothpaste marks on the walls. Given the long list of possible fines for not cleaning to their specifications, I wonder whether the apartments really are checked after guests leave, as stated. Personally, the dated decor and limited closet space didn’t bother me much. It’s a nice little holiday village on the outskirts of Le Teich, near a small port and a nature reserve. Apartments sleep between 2 and 8 people.

Good value for money, and the pool is lovely. The staff are very friendly. The place could use some updating.

The mattress is awful, there are no curtains, and we had no hot water about 80% of the time. The internet didn’t work at all, even though I paid over $50 just for “internet”. Also, don’t bring large luggage, it’s a long walk from the parking lot to the room.

A very good base for nearby attractions, including the dunes de pilat. Dogs are welcome too.
