The rooms are badly run down, there’s no proper heating, and the bar or club next door gets very loud. It’s not worth the price. They’ll try to scam you over breakfast, too. I wouldn’t recommend it, and I won’t be back.

A small hotel right in the town centre, comfortable and warm, and handy if you’re just staying a short time. Street parking outside was free from 7pm to 9am. Breakfast was a very basic continental spread. I was there as part of a party, with the hotel included in the break package, so I didn’t know its cost until I checked the room folder. It was expensive. I’ve stayed in four-star hotels for less.

The place felt old, expensive, and in poor shape, and the way they dealt with breakfast and the booking left me really disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend it. At check-in, a staff member asked when we wanted breakfast. We said we planned to eat at a nearby café in the sunshine, but she told us it was included with our rooms, so we agreed to have it. The breakfast room was a cramped little space downstairs, too small for the number of guests. At checkout, another staff member said the woman had accidentally canceled my booking and that I might get an email saying so. I didn’t think much of it then, but now I wonder if that could stop us from leaving a review on bookings.com. The man at the desk also tried to charge us for eight breakfasts at €16 apiece. I explained we’d been told breakfast was included and wouldn’t have eaten there otherwise. He said he couldn’t do anything, then lowered it to €10 each. I paid, reluctantly. The whole thing felt very sneaky.

I won’t be staying at Pol Hotel again. The people were friendly, but I’d rather not return unless the Golfing Package Agents make me. I did like how easy it was to get into town, and there’s a lovely café downstairs for breakfast or lunch. It had live music in the sunshine, which was nice. The sheets were clean and comfortable, and the golf resorts were just six minutes away by car. The rest was a mess. The hotel felt dirty, and there was a funny smell in the lobby. The Brasserie downstairs played thumping music until the early hours every night, with tourists and partygoers shouting and talking outside late into the night too. There’s no parking, and a nearby day’s parking costs EUR 18. The room door had a huge gap by the lock, like someone could easily smash it in. The windows didn’t lock properly, and there was no air conditioning. The bath had no curtain or shower-head holder, and we had no hot water for the whole stay. I ended up showering at the local gold course. They offered me a free beer for that, which was madness. Breakfast was in the basement. The “continental” options were two kinds of croissant, a bowl of cereal, and a yoghurt. Honestly, not great.

The photos are completely misleading. The hotel was absolutely disgusting, the worst place I’ve ever stayed, no exaggeration. The Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the bedrooms. #modestlodgings
